What linking does
It replaces the learner list in your standalone gradebook with the adviser's roster (the adviser's list is always the identity source of truth, so there is never two spellings of one child). All your activities and scores are preserved. Only the learner identities change.
How learners are matched
- LRN, exact.
- Email, exact.
- Name, normalised — capitalisation, punctuation and middle initials ignored, close spellings suggested.
- Whatever is left you resolve by hand: add your learner to the class, or leave them out.
Either side can start it
You can request a link to a class; an adviser can request to link your gradebook. Both must agree. A request expires in 14 days. After a merge, it can be reverted for 7 days.
If you do not want to link
Decline. Your standalone gradebook keeps working. There is no half-linked state.
